Maysoon Zayid is a comedian who likes to start her shows with the line, “I got 99 problems and palsy is just one. I’m Palestinian, Muslim, a woman of color, and [pause] – I live in New Jersey.” She is a comedian who performed early March 2020 at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. She uses her life experiences towards her stand-up comedy and advocacy work. While talking with audiences, she stresses the injustices that both children and adults with disabilities face each day. Once, after telling a teacher that she dreamed of tap-dancing on Broadway, the teacher said, “Find another dream.” While the comment hurt at the time, she late used it as the title of an audiobook, and she ended up proving her teacher wrong by tapdancing on Broadway.
