The British Museum acquires a 3,000-year-old Bronze Age gold pendant

In May of 2018, a metal detectorist in Shropshire, England, found treasure. It was a 3,000-year-old gold pendant from the Bronze Age that was later declared to be “one of the most significant discoveries from this period” according to Neil Wilkin who is a Bronze Age curator. The piece of jewelry was purchased by the British Museum for £250,000. It has been amazingly well-preserved, and holds importance because it helped researchers understand the importance that the sun’s path across the sky played on beliefs during the Bronze Age.
