Nursing Home Uses Robots To Help Families Visit Seniors

Senior centers across the country are closing their doors. Not even family members can visit loved ones. The fear is more novel coronavirus infections. People have found creative ways to connect. One senior center in Minnesota enlisted the help of robots. Family members who wish to see loved seniors can use a computer from home to drive a robot up to residents in facilities. Video and audio allow family members to connect. Carla Smith took advantage of this opportunity to “visit” her 89-year-old father and 93-year-old mother. “Isn’t this amazing,” her father said. “It’s a great day to be alive.”
