Due to the spread of the coronavirus, Oakland Unified School District closed at least until April 5, 2020. During school closures, many children miss out on meal programs provided by the school. NBA star Steph Curry and his wife, Ayesha Curry, announced that their “Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation” is teaming up with the Alameda County Community Food Bank and Oakland USD to provide over 1 million meals to students in Oakland. Steph said, “We know the world is changing before our eyes in terms of dealing with the spread of coronavirus and […] we want to intercede on behalf of the kids that rely on the daily [school] services and try to help anyway we can.”
