Salina Almanzar is a Lantix artist and activist. One of her art projects, a mural on the Water Street Mission, was dubbed on to the top 50 public art projects in the U.S. She said the roots of her work come from her love of family, community, and culture. She wants to engage the community and build spaces for community collaboration. In that spirit, she is opening up a café called Fafe Pa’lante that will be a cultural space in Lancaster, PA. She shared in an interview, “I like to think of myself and everyone around me as ancestors. We will all disappear sometime, and I imagine that we want our stories to live on. I also think that our stories are interconnected and if we could see this and honor it, we might be able to live more peacefully together.”
