Oysters Invade Waters Of Britain

A non-native species of oyster is making its home along the coast of southern England. Some fragile marine areas are overrun by the molluscs, Magallana gigas. These Pacific oysters originated in Japan. They have been farmed in the United Kingdom for many years. But now, wild populations are rapidly reproducing. Why not just eat them? Because this oyster is not necessarily safe for ingesting from the coastal waters of Britain.
