One Woman’s Fight To Improve Literacy Education
Source: Education Post

Lakisha Young had to work hard to get her kids a quality education in Oakland, CA. She’s now the executive director of The Oakland REACH. The organization works with parents from underserved communities to push for better schools. They want literacy for everyone, including parents and grandparents. Their mission is to empower parents to stand up for their children. The goal is to have Oakland public schools teaching kids to read in an effective way. And to get the necessary support for teachers and parents.
