Christina Koch and Jessica Meir performed the first all-female spacewalk outside the International Space Station (ISS) on October 18th.The two were sent to replace a failed battery controller. The task took seven hours and 17 minutes. Thousands of people watched live footage of Koch and Meiras the Earth passed below their feet. Koch noted the importance their walk holds for many girls and women. Meir expressed her gratitude to the many womenin space who came before her.
