The longest game in NHL history lasted almost 180 minutes. That’s small potatoes to Mike Lesakowski and his 39 teammates, who played a game that lasted 251 hours. The marathon game set the record for longest continuous hockey game according to Guinness World Records. Lesakowski organized the game to raise money for cancer research after both his wife and mother were afflicted by the disease. The goal was to raise $500,000, but they more than doubled that, pulling in $1.2 million.
