Western Pennsylvania had a major impact on the United States’ development as a country. Tourists can visit many of the historic sites that changed the country. One of these sites is in Elizabeth Borough, in Allegheny County. Officials here say that Capt. John Walker, an Elizabeth Borough resident, was responsible for building Lewis and Clark’s boat. They used it to explore the recently purchased Louisiana territory.
