The Minnesota Orchestra performed in Cuba in mid-May, breaking the nearly 16-year gap when the last major American orchestra visited the country. The performance happened just a couple of months after the announcement that US-Cuba relations were beginning to thaw. It was an opportunity for Americans and Cubans to share their love of music. The day before the concert, members of the orchestra taught music lessons to a packed room of Cuban high school and college students. The Minnesota Orchestra members were amazed at the students’ talent.
