Cuba has been removed from the U.S. list of terrorism sponsors. A statement from the US State Department said that the United States is still wary of many “of Cuba’s policies and actions,” but those issues aren’t related enough to terrorism to keep the country on the blacklist. It’s still illegal for US companies to do business in Cuba, and while some believe that it is an important step forward in repairing US-Cuba relationships, others believe the United States is relaxing its position on Cuba with no guarantees that the country has changed or that Cuba will try to improve the way it treats its citizens.
