Andrew Wiggins leads a new generation of Canadian NBA players
The Minnesota Timberwolves have high expectations for Andrew Wiggins, and so do many Canadians. Wiggins, who grew up in Toronto watching then-Raptors star Vince Carter, was the first pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. The Timberwolves traded for Wiggins before the season, and they are hoping the shooting guard from the University of Kansas can lead the team back to the playoffs for the first time since 2003. Wiggins is one of a new generation of Canadian players who are hoping to make an impact in the NBA. Another is Timberwolves teammate Anthony Bennett, who was the first overall pick in the 2013 draft.
