Kobe Bryant bids a poetic goodbye to basketball

With a poem on the athlete-written website The Players' Tribune, Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant announced his retirement at the end of the 2015–16 season. The 17-time NBA All-Star has seen his skills fade in recent years, and his shooting percentage is at career-low 31.5 percent. But there is no question that he will go down as one of the greatest to play the game. Bryant entered the NBA straight out of high school in 1996. His ability to drive the lane coupled with his lethal jump shot quickly made him a superstar. He will retire as the third-leading scorer in NBA history, with an MVP award and five championship rings on his résumé. Read more about Kobe Bryant's retirement from the NBA.
