Michael Packárd was diving for lobsters in Cape Cod, Massachusetts when he felt a big push and then everything went dark. At first, he thought a shark had bitten him, but there was no big pain. Feeling his way around—he was still wearing his scuba gear and breathing apparatus—Packárd realized he was in a whale’s mouth! The whale was likely a young humpback feeding on fish and swallowed Packárd up too. After about 30 seconds, the whale began to shake its head. It resurfaced and spat him out. Packárd had severe bruises and a dislocated knee but was otherwise unharmed with the fish story of a lifetime.
