On February 25, 2020, three baboons were being transported to a research hospital in Sydney when they escaped. A man reporting a sighting said, “I’m dead set serious. They even have shiny red bottoms.” The baboons were captured about an hour later. They apparently escaped due to a faulty lock. Australia has bred baboons for research, but on this day, one of them was scheduled for an operation.
