It was the year 1903 when Florence Sabin became the first woman to be appointed to the faculty of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. This was a huge achievement for the time. Some of her accomplishments included writing a book about the brain and helping to prevent the spread of tuberculosis. Sabin hoped to encourage young women to use their minds.
