Foreign-trained Doctors Care For Many Americans

More than one-quarter of all doctors in the United States earned their medical degrees in foreign countries. Not all are immigrants, but most are. These doctors provide health care for millions of Americans, especially in lower-income and disadvantaged communities and rural areas. Immigration policies that limit how many foreign-trained doctors can work in the US will make it even harder for many people to get the health care they need. These policies will lead to a shortage of doctors by 2025.
