In 2016, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) analyzed 2013 data on public pool inspections. Their analysis encompassed nearly 50,000 public pools across five US states. They found that 1 in 8 of these inspections resulted in the pool being closed immediately due to serious health and safety violations. Based on these results, the CDC recommended that children or parents check a public pool’s inspection results online or on-site before swimming.
