12SL_GAME_HOOP_COVwebIn their first meeting of the 2016 season, both the Los Angeles Sparks and the Minnesota Lynx had broken the WNBA record for consecutive wins to start a season. The Lynx came out on top in Los Angeles, moving their record to a perfect 13-0. But in a rematch in Minneapolis, the Sparks turned the tables and put an end to Minnesota’s record streak. Kristi Toliver had seven 3-pointers and 25 points in leading the Sparks to a 94-76 rout. Lynx star Maya Moore was the only Minnesota player to hit double digits in scoring. Her 28 points were the lone highlight in a poor shooting night for the defending champion Lynx. Lindsay Whalen pulled Minnesota to within three with just over seven minutes to go, but it wasn’t enough. The Lynx hit only three more field goals down the stretch as the Sparks pulled away for good.
