Author Harper Lee died on February 19. She was 89 years old. Lee’s award-winning novel “To Kill a Mockingbird” was published in 1960. It quickly became one of the most successful books written by an American. It won the Pulitzer Prize in 1961, and it was made into an award-winning movie in 1962. Today, more than 40 million copies of it have been sold. Yet for most of her life, Lee worked hard to avoid attention. She rarely spoke in public, instead living quietly in a small town. Her second novel, “Go Set a Watchman,” was not published until last year.
