National League pitchers have to hit during games. But throughout Major League Baseball, hitters rarely have to pitch. Usually a hitter takes the mound only when his team is in a blowout, his team’s bullpen is out of pitchers, or both happen at the same time. That doesn’t mean all hitters are bad pitchers, though. Of the 38 active MLB hitters who have also pitched in a game, some have done pretty well. Among them are the Baltimore Orioles’ Chris Davis, the Reds’ Skip Schumaker and the Cleveland Indians’ Ryan Raburn.
