Scientists made an unexpected discovery when examining some dinosaur teeth recently. The study focused on theropods, who were carnivorous dinosaurs such as the T. rex and the velociraptor. Researchers found that the cracks in the teeth were actually deep folds. These folds helped strengthen the teeth so they would not break while the dinosaur tore its prey apart. The folds also made the serrated part of the teeth stronger. These findings update some original research from the 1990s.
