About the Author
Chris Everheart is an award-winning author of more than twenty books and short stories for kids, teens, and adults. A lifelong reluctant reader, TV junkie, and movie lover, Chris infuses the pacing and thrills of visual storytelling into all his stories. When not writing he can be found hiking in the mountains near home or visiting libraries and schools to share his love of learning. He’s a Minnesota native living in Tennessee with his family.

Story 1
I failed English in 9th grade (and also failed a lot of other classes in junior high). So I had to do a lot of summer school to make up for it.
Story 2
I barely graduated high school — by 1/4 of a credit — because I didn’t take school seriously in earlier grades.
Story 3
I hated reading until I was in senior high school and still have trouble reading sometimes.
Story 4
I studied art for 10 years from junior high school through college, and never planned on writing books.
Story 5
I was an archaeological illustrator at the University of New Mexico and the University of Minnesota. I worked with professional archaeologists to draw objects dug out of the ground and recreate villages that ancient people lived in.
Story 6
As a kid, I looked like Ronald McDonald because of my curly red hair — and got teased about it a lot.
Story 7
If I could live in any historical place and era, it would be ancient Greece.
Story 8
My first car was a rusty 1972 Chevy that spat fire from the engine and broke down so often that I HAD to learn how to fix cars to keep it running. I loved that car!
Story 9
I saw the first "Star Wars" movie 11 times in the theater during its original, first run. Do you know what year that was?
Story 10
I’ll eat almost any food — except butterscotch or salmon. YUCK! Who’s with me?
Story 11
I grew up in Minnesota but now live in the mountains of East Tennessee, where I can hike, camp, kayak, and look at the great views anytime I want.
Story 12
In high school, my favorite classic book was “Dante’s Inferno.” It made me feel smarter and scared me at the same time!
