About the Author
Mari Kesselring is the author of many fiction and nonfiction books for young people. In fiction, she enjoys creating strong female protagonists who have grand adventures and quirky friends. Mari is currently pursuing an MFA in creative writing. She lives in Minnesota with her husband and dog.
Mari Kesselring’s 12 Stories
Story 1
I wrote my first story while in first grade. It was titled “A Walk in the Woods.”
Story 2
My husband is also a writer.
Story 3
I have an identical twin sister.
Story 4
My twin sister and I spent our childhood pursuing various enterprises. We started a club called the Animal Club to raise money for animals in shelters. We also created a newspaper called Kids’ Press (the paper version of Bridget’s Cyber Hills Holler).
Story 5
Emma in the Bridget Gadget series is modeled after my childhood best friend, Emily.
Story 6
I wrote most of the Bridget Gadget books inside a Bruegger’s Bagels.
Story 7
My favorite YA author is A.S. King.
Story 8
My dog’s name is Lady. She’s named after my favorite movie as a kid, "Lady and the Tramp."
Story 9
I’ve traveled in Japan.
Story 10
I love Shakespeare plays. My favorites are "Much Ado About Nothing," "As You Like It," and "Richard III."
Story 11
In 2010, my husband and I drove through a blizzard so we could decorate a Christmas tree at my parents’ house.

My favorite animal is a white-tailed deer.
