At age 22, Amanda Gorman is the youngest poet to write and recite a verse at a presidential inauguration. Her poem, “The Hill We Climb,” spoke about unity, healing, grief, and hope. President Joe Biden addressed similar themes in his speech. Gorman was inspired by great speakers like Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Gorman is a former National Youth Poet Laureate. She is one of four poets speak at an inauguration.
