It’s a first: Scientists at the University of Tel Aviv in Israel have created a human heart using a 3D printer. Engineered from human cells obtained via biopsies, the heart will need to be refined and tested in animals before it can be implanted in actual patients. Still, it’s a promising development in cardiac medicine, with the potential to save the lives of people with end-stage heart disease.
