According to Simon Rich, writing for the TV show Saturday Night Live is hard work. It can be really stressful. But it’s also a lot of fun. The writers do a lot of writing. The sketches that make everyone laugh the most are picked. Then the writers work together to make the sketches even better. After a dress rehearsal on Saturday, the day of the show, more sketches are cut. A sketch can be cut at any point along the way. That’s the stressful part. But Rich says that SNL isn’t a competitive environment with rivalries and feuds. He says it’s a friendly group where people are helpful.
