In 2017, the French Minister of National Education made an announcement. Starting in September 2018, cell phones would be banned for all students in France through age 15. Students would not be allowed to use their phones at all during the school day. The Minister of Education said the ban was for public health reasons. Schools and districts in other countries have also banned cell phones.
