With the Baltimore Orioles in Kansas City to play the Royals, outfielder Adam Jones had time for a side trip. Jones visited the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum to make a $20,000 donation and promote the museum. He also provided free admission for a group of youngsters from Kansas City’s Operation Breakthrough Organization to see the museum and afterward attend a Royals game later this summer. Jones himself was recently the victim of racially abusive language from fans at Boston’s Fenway Park. While his visit to the museum had been planned long before the incident, it came at an opportune time when the intersection of race and sports was in the news.
