New fossil footprints have lead researchers to the discovery that Homo erectus, an ancestor of modern humans, walked on two feet. Scientists used new analytic techniques to make the discovery and concluded that Homo erectus also lived in social groups similar to that of modern humans. Additionally, researchers discovered a previously unknown fact, that males cooperated in living sites, which gives further insight into the behavior of these creatures.
