The new Star Wars film had record ticket sales in its opening weekend. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” made $238 million during its opening weekend in North America. That is more than any other movie. Combined with the $279 million internationally, the film totaled $525 million worldwide. Only “Jurassic World” this past summer earned more on its opening weekend. The new Star Wars film features several new stars, as well as some of the stars of the original three films. Harrison Ford is back as Han Solo, and Carrie Fisher continues her turn as Princess Leia. “The Force Awakens” also includes Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker and fan favorites, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2D2. Meanwhile, new characters such as Finn, who is played by John Boyega, and Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, take starring roles.
