YouTube star PewDiePie (real name Felix Kjellberg) made internet history on Sept. 6 when he became the first person with 10 billion YouTube views. Kjellberg began making videos as PewDiePie in 2010, and his following has grown to the largest YouTube audience. Most of the videos feature Kjellberg talking to the camera, making jokes, or playing video games. In 2014, his videos earned him more than $7 million. Kjellberg has expressed discomfort with his global influence — video game makers notice a boost in sales when Kjellberg mentions a product in one of his videos. But his following and influence led Variety to feature him on the cover of its July issue as the No. 1 digital star.
