Japan’s surprise Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii led the United States to enter World War II (1939–45). This year’s 73rd anniversary of the attack will include a special reunion. Four of the nine surviving sailors from the USS Arizona, an American ship that sank during the attack on Pearl Harbor, have returned to honor their shipmates. In total, 1,177 sailors died during the attack.
