Chemical pesticides kill locusts, but they can also poisonous. Two scientists want to help. They are creating a natural pesticide that would kill swarms of locusts yet be safe for farmers and the environment. The scientists already found a fungus that kills locusts. Now they are developing a protective coating so the fungus can survive in the hot, arid areas where locusts are common. They hope that in the future, we will have similar pesticides to kill other insects without harming people.
