Hurricane Unearths Artifacts From Historic Fort
A community devastated by Hurricane Michael.

Hurricane Michael ripped through the Florida Panhandle in October 2018, uprooting trees on the site of a nineteenth-century fort south of Tallahassee. Tangled in the roots of the trees were dozens of buried treasures: gun flints, ammunition, pipe fragments, and more items dating back to the early 1800s. The relics will provide important information about the various groups that lived at the fort, from the British military to rebel slaves.
