Sharks are carnivores – meat eaters. They’re definitely not vegetarians. But according to a new study, there’s a shark that eats both meat and veggies. Bonnethead sharks, a smaller cousin to the hammerhead, gobble up sea creatures and seagrass. Researchers believe that the bonnethead gets up to 60 percent of the nutrients it needs from seagrass. Special enzymes in its digestive system break down the seagrass. Native to coastal North America, the bonnethead is the first known omnivorous shark.
