In more than 20 years in the NBA, the Toronto Raptors had made the playoffs 10 times. But a championship always eluded them. That changed in June 2019 when the Raptors defeated the Golden State Warriors in the 2019 NBA finals. The people of Toronto responded: More than one million people flooded the streets for the team’s victory parade. It was the first time a Toronto team won a major sports championship since 1983.
