In Oman, archeologists discovered an Iron Age settlement, a copper mine, and a necropolis (or cemetery). The necropolis holds 45 tombs and is over 3,000 years old. The length of the tomb and the artifacts within indicates the social status of the person buried there. The settlement was found about 2,297 ft (700 m) from the necropolis. Oman has been the site of many important archeological finds in the past few decades. In January 2018, a collection of over 3,000 Iron Age weapons was found. Further excavation of this newly discovered settlement and copper mine is still underway as of November 2019.
