Whale Watching—in Reverse

Could the Russian military be using marine mammals as spies? That’s the question being asked after a beluga whale was found near a Russian naval base off the coast of Norway, outfitted with a harness that could hold a GoPro camera. The tame whale approached Norwegian boats looking for lunch, and a fisherman freed the mammal from the harness. Belugas, dolphins, and killer whales are social and very smart, capable of being trained like dogs to obey commands and perform tasks.
