Russia’s World Cup Stadiums Are Green Certified

Russia hosted the 2018 World Cup in 12 stadiums throughout the country. All of the stadiums had one thing in common: They had been built or renovated in an environmentally friendly way. Each of the venues achieved green certification, meaning that designers considered environmental and social concerns during construction. FIFA, the organization that operates the World Cup, has made it a requirement that any future nation holding the tournament must also build green-certified stadiums.
