Turns out those filters on Snapchat and Instagram that make you look great aren’t good for you. Plastic surgeons are reporting that patients are showing them selfies and asking to look more like their retouched photos. Researchers call this “Snapchat dysmorphia.” Dysmorphia is when you falsely believe that there’s something seriously wrong with how you look. Doctors are worried that the filters are having a disastrous impact on people’s self-esteem.
