Almost exactly one year after their triumph at the 2016 Olympic Games, Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst showed they are still the world’s best. Germany’s “Golden Girls” won the 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship with a 2-1 win over Americans April Ross and Lauren Fendrick. The win was extra special because the tournament was held in nearby Vienna, Austria, allowing thousands of German fans to make the trip to support the team.
