Scientists have discovered what could be the oldest remnants of life on Earth. These tiny “microfossils” might be as old as 3.77 to 4.28 billion years. If so, the rock samples, found in Canada, could be older the current oldest fossils, which were found in Greenland. Those fossils, which are 3.7 billion years old, were discovered in August 2016. In order to find if these samples are indeed fossils, scientists need to prove that they were created by living things.

Read more about these possible fossils and the scientists who found them.
