Cubs Celebrate World Series At White House

As president, Barack Obama has entertained all of America’s major sports champions at the White House over his two terms. He hosted his last with just four days left in his presidency, and it was a special one. His hometown Chicago Cubs were the team being honored for their 2016 World Series championship. Though President Obama is a well-known Chicago White Sox fan, he still offered his congratulations to the Cubs on ending their 116-year wait for a World Series. The Cubs, in turn, issued a “pardon” to the president, forgiving him for favoring their South Side rival. First Lady Michelle Obama was especially excited, as she counts herself among the Cubs faithful. Players, coaches, and members of team management posed for group photos with the president and presented him with his own personalized Cubs jersey.
