Earlier this year, diversity was a hot topic during the Academy Awards ceremony, where many members of Hollywood’s elite made note of the lack of diversity amongst the nominees. Diversity was also in the spotlight during this years Emmy Awards, though for a much different reason. The awards, which celebrate television shows, honored far more people of color, with big awards going to Regina King, Sterling K. Brown, Rami Malek, and Key and Peele. Winners Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang also brought light to the improvements in diversity, but noted that Hollywood still has a long way to go.
