If this was the last concert for The Tragically Hip, they couldn’t have picked a more appropriate place. Their hometown show in Kingston, Ontario, was both exhilarating and emotional for the band’s longtime fans, who packed the Rogers K-Rock Centre for what could be the last time. While the band has not ruled out continuing beyond this tour, it likely will not be with their classic lineup, as lead vocalist Gord Downie is battling terminal brain cancer. Thus, fans took advantage of the chance to say goodbye. In addition to the thousands in attendance (including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau), the concert was broadcast live around the country. People packed bars and outdoor viewing parties to experience the band live one last time.
