In Minnesota, and other parts of the Upper Midwest, the population of the endangered piping plovers is rebounding, thanks to the protection of the Endangered Species Act. The bird species was nearly whipped out and now there are now at least 72 pairs. While there is still a lot of work to be done, scientists find the progress encouraging.
