On September 29, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed to add the eastern massasauga rattlesnake to the list of species protected by the Endangered Species Act. These snakes live throughout the Midwest. But many of the wetlands where these snakes live have been drained. Putting these snakes on the Endangered Species list would also help protect these wetland areas.
