Big Bird, Bert, Ernie, and the gang will have a new home for the next five years. No, they’re not moving off Sesame Street, but the long running television program of the same name will begin airing on HBO in the fall of 2015. Sesame Street had previously aired on public television since its debut in 1969. The show will continue air on PBS, but the move to HBO allows it to produce twice as much content. Being on premium cable means more revenue and creative freedom for the award-winning program.
